Under scrutiny: the Simplon Rapcon Pmax

bikesport e-mtb concludes: a true allrounder!

bikesport e-mtb has sent out its testers to scrutinise the new Rapcon Pmax by Simplon. Conclusion: The carbon racer crafted in the bike workshop in Hard impresses with both its uphill and downhill performance – a true allrounder, it’s as simple as that. Why the e-mtb doesn’t in the least pale in comparison to its competitors? Let’s find out!

Best prerequisites for the ride of your life

E-all-mountain or e-enduro bike: The Rapcon Pmax can be both! The e-mtb in its standard version with 150 mm travel on the fork and in the rear is the perfect companion on all kinds of terrain, both uphill and downhill. Upon request, the bike transforms into a racy enduro for short and snappy ascents and descents. That’s possible thanks to a travel of up to 170 mm on the fork and 160 mm in the rear.

Another highlight that stands out: the option to mount a 29’’ front wheel and 27.5’’ rear wheel as an alternative to the standard 29-inchers. Via flipchip, the geometry can be easily adapted. The latest Bosch Performance CX drive unit gives the bike a nice boost. It is fed by the 625 Wh battery on the down tube, which is cooled by air vents in the steering head.

Pure riding fun on the trails

In challenging terrain, uphill or downhill, you can definitely notice the bike’s balanced geometry according to the bikesport e-mtb testers. Due to the 75-degree seat angle in combination with a moderately long reach, the sitting position on the bike is optimal. Heavy-duty steep climbs become a breeze thanks to that.

Feisty, strong and easy to control – that’s the conclusion after putting the Bosch drive unit through its paces. And the wheel mix of 29’’/27.5’’ is implemented exceptionally well: “The wheel front stays sufficiently deep despite a 29’’ front wheel, which lets you actively push the bike through curves.”

The bike’s plus points summed up:

  • well-crafted carbon frame with clever details
  • excellent suspension setup
  • up to 1,125 Wh battery capacity
  • balanced geometry
  • strong 4-piston brakes
