SIMPLON Rapcon Pmax CX: Winner in EMTBs big comparison test

|Bikes & Tests

"That’s how all-mountain is done" - with this special compliment, the Rapcon Pmax CX takes the victory in the big comparison test of eleven current all-mountain bikes in EMTB magazine.

SIMPLONs RAPCON PMAX CX – a great riding all-mountain bike

"A great riding all-mountain with Bosch motor, removable battery and yet pretty light" - these are the words EMTB magazine used to honour our RAPCON PMAX CX in the big comparison test of eleven current all-mountain bikes. Our RAPCON PMAX came out on top against renowned competition.

The test report names the RAPCON PMAX CX's extremely compact riding position thanks to the almost 80-degree steep seat angle as one of its great strengths: "It's ideal for climbing. Even on nasty ramps you keep control," the testers compliment. This makes our bike the front-runner in the uphill ranking.

The RAPCON PMAX CX also earns a lot of credit for its downhill qualities and on flowing trails in the test review. The EMTB experts put this down to the suspension: "The rear triangle is sensitive and offers enough potential even at high speeds. The Lyrik fork with Charger 3 shock manages a great balance between control and comfort, and the puncture-proof Super Gravity tyres provide a full ride", they explain.

Our favourites like the SIMPLON prove that the best construction matters more on the trail than a factory chassis.

Compelling range

The range of the Powertube battery with a whopping 750 Wh from Bosch is rated as "compelling" by the testers. Particular credit goes to SIMPLON's slide-in construction. According to EMTB magazine, this saves weight, "and that is not entirely insignificant with the Powertubes," says the article.

The testers also point out that SIMPLON's in-house configurator allows you to order a slightly weaker and therefore lighter battery with 500 Wh, or a range extender for maximum range.

Tested specification

EMTB-magazine tested our RAPCON PMAX CX with these components:

  • Motor: Bosch Performance Line CX Smart / Powertube 750 Wh
  • Wheel set: Mavic E-Deemax 30 29''
  • Tyres: Schwalbe Magic Mary SuperGravity Soft, 29'' x 2,6 ''
  • Fork: Rock Shox Lyric Select+
  • Rear suspension: Rock Shox Deluxe Select+
  • Brakes: Sram G2 RSC, 220/200 mm
  • Drivetrain: Sram GX Eagle
  • Seatpost: BikeYoke Revive, 213 mm

EMTB magazine refers in the review to SIMPLON's online configurator, via which individual tuning is "easy to use".

The drive of the RAPCON PMAX CX: uphill benchmark

The EMTB testers complimented the proven Bosch motor in our RAPCON PMAX CX with these words: "High performance at a reasonable weight. Thanks to its good modulation and features such as the extended overrun in emtb mode, this drive is the "benchmark for nasty uphills" in the eyes of the testers.

That’s how all-mountain is done.

"That's how all-mountain is done: compelling on uphills, top range and quite light as well." With this commendation, the EMTB testers comment on the victory of our Rapcon Pmax CX in their test.
