Put to the test: the Chenoa Bosch CX

ElektroRad tested the latest e-bike by Simplon

For the current issue of its magazine, ElektroRad tested 64 new e-bike models. Among them, the Chenoa Bosch CX by Simplon. The expert jury gave the bike an “A”. Why exactly? Let’s find out!

A fully equipped trekking bike

Trekking fans and those who love lightweight e-bikes will be very impressed with the Chenoa Bosch CX. Innovative details, the frame and fork made of carbon, only 20.3 kg in weight when fully equipped – the expert jury agrees: That’s unique and new on the e-bike market.

What stands out as well is the clean design of the bike. Since all cables disappear in the headset on the top tube, a rat’s nest of cables is finally a thing of the past. In line with this look: the powerful Bosch CX drive unit with a 625-Wh battery integrated into the frame.

If you let it roll, the Chenoa Bosch CX feels just as light as a standard bike, and it can be brought up to speed with ease

Lightweight and agile

“If you let it roll, the Chenoa Bosch CX feels just as light as a standard bike, and it can be brought up to speed with ease.”  That’s what the ElektroRad testers said, and it means: Without employing the motor, there is hardly any resistance while pedaling. If you engage the drive unit, you’ll experience a “natural rolling behavior” as well.

The results on the test course were equally positive. Geared towards athleticism, the Chenoa Bosch CX feels extremely agile when tackling narrow passages. Impressive too: the stiff frame and excellent riding properties.

Verdict

Pros of the Chenoa Bosch CX:

  • effortless and agile rolling behavior
  • high-quality craftsmanship and materials
  • sporty design
  • low in weight
  • diverse equipment options

Cons according to the jury:

  • The taillight extends beyond the rear rack.
  • More comfortable shock absorption would be preferable.
